House Rules:
Do your own dishes.
Knock before entering the bathroom.
Never look up your roommate online.

The Wheatons are infamous among the east coast elite for their lack of impulse control, except for their daughter Clara. She’s the consummate socialite: over-achieving, well-mannered, predictable. But every Wheaton has their weakness. When Clara’s childhood crush invites her to move cross-country, the offer is too much to resist. Unfortunately, it’s also too good to be true.

After a bait-and-switch, Clara finds herself sharing a lease with a charming stranger. Josh might be a bit too perceptive—not to mention handsome—for comfort, but there’s a good chance he and Clara could have survived sharing a summer sublet if she hadn’t looked him up on the Internet…

Once she learns how Josh has made a name for himself, Clara realizes living with him might make her the Wheaton’s most scandalous story yet. His professional prowess inspires her to take tackling the stigma against female desire into her own hands. They may not agree on much, but Josh and Clara both believe women deserve better sex. What they decide to do about it will change both of their lives, and if they’re lucky, they’ll help everyone else get lucky too.

About The Author

Rosie Danan writes steamy, big-hearted books, articles, and tweets about the trials and triumphs of modern love.

The New York Times calls Rosie Danan’s debut novel, THE ROOMMATE “a book about people expanding into their best possible selves…warmly funny and gorgeously sexy.” The rom-com has been optioned for film, and a companion book THE INTIMACY EXPERIMENT is forthcoming April 6, 2021 in both the US and UK.

After participating in the writing mentorship program Pitch Wars as a 2018 mentee, she was thrilled to rejoin the organization as a 2019 and 2020 mentor.

One of 2020’s Best Romance Books

I read one of 2020’s most talked-about romance books! Of course, we were all enticed by this book’s unique premise. Who could have ever imagined we’ll be looking at a mainstream contemporary romance talking about the sex industry?

This book was hyped in all the bookish communities and I truly saw why. We have Clara, an uptight and conservative girl who made an impulsive decision to move to LA for her long-time crush. Only, that lifelong crush goes on tour with his band and she suddenly is pushed into being roommates with Josh Darling, America’s biggest porn star.

The premise of this was so, so good. Not only did this book revolved around romance, but it also told the story of a wallflower unraveling to be a confident and comfortable human. To be honest, Clara got on my nerves sometimes with all her “judgy-ness”, but Josh was my star and took my heart!

If you’re expecting a steamy romance, you are in for a treat! The sexual tension is sparking in this book, and hot scenes are indeed hot. However, you will also experience a lot of humor, political and industry discourse, family, personal development, and other serious themes. I also love all the side characters, especially Naomi Grant. I love that she will be featured in her own book, The Intimacy Experiment, coming out soon!

Back to the romance — A point to consider, though, is that there were a lot of rom-com clichés but they work for a reason! I can even see this being made into a movie!

Overall, it was a quick and fun romance read. I’m so excited to see what else Rosie Danan comes up with!
