All Your Twisted Secrets
by Diana Urban
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: March 17th 2020
Book Blurb
This thrilling debut, reminiscent of new fan favorites like One of Us Is Lying and the beloved classics by Agatha Christie, will leave readers guessing until the explosive ending.
Welcome to dinner, and again, congratulations on being selected. Now you must do the selecting.
What do the queen bee, star athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it’s a trap. Someone has locked them into a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill … or else everyone dies.
Amber Prescott is determined to get her classmates and herself out of the room alive, but that might be easier said than done. No one knows how they’re all connected or who would want them dead. As they retrace the events over the past year that might have triggered their captor’s ultimatum, it becomes clear that everyone is hiding something. And with the clock ticking down, confusion turns into fear, and fear morphs into panic as they race to answer the biggest question: Who will they choose to die?

Despite anI’m Diana Urban, and I write dark, twisty thrillers for teens including All Your Twisted Secrets (HarperTeen, March 17th 2020). When I’m not torturing fictional characters, I’m a marketing manager at BookBub, a leading book discovery platform. Outside the bookish world, I live with my husband and cat in Boston, and enjoy reading, video games, fawning over cute animals, and looking at the beach from a safe distance. unsettling resemblance to Japanese revenants, Rin always maintains her sense of hummus. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she keeps four pets: a dog, two birds, and a husband. Dances like the neighbors are watching.
She is represented by Rebecca Podos of the Helen Rees Agency. She is also fond of speaking in the third person, and may as well finish this short bio in this manner. While she does not always get to check her Goodreads page, she does answer questions posed to her here as promptly as she is able to.

Review
All Your Twisted Secrets is a book that drew me in, first and foremost, because of that beautiful cover. It promises a mystery slash thriller feel and I am all for that! I cannot ever resist reading books under this genre – especially in the YA age group.
This book is like the type of story where a group of misfits (people who know each other but are not really friends) are placed in one place together. Then, they are stuck in a somewhat escape room where they have to decide on killing one person in the room or a bomb will go off. With a blurb and cover like this, I have to say that I was immediately sold.
With a writing style that can draw in, this book can be read in one sitting within a few hours. As it is told in alternating timelines, past and present, the reader is given a glimpse on the context of the character decisions as well as a glimpse on who they actually are. Overall, this pacing was good and I enjoyed this part.
Mystery wise, I was able to guess what was going to happen towards the latter part of the story. But, I don’t blame the writer for it. Maybe I just have read and watch too many mysteries.
Still a good read overall. Perfect for this past weekend.
