My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Review originally published on Goodreads – September 30, 2018.

“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.”

If anyone were to read this and choose a quote, it would probably be that one.

Hmm, okay. Most of my GR friends have mixed reviews over this CoHo book. I don’t know if it’s because she’s one of my faves but this book really did something to me.

5 stars because this book gave me so much. It’s not really a romance. It’s a family story. There are so much trigger warnings. It could be at every corner. But that’s CoHo. She writes thay hard parts. TW for depression, harassment, infidelity, mental disorders, suicide (or attempts).

I don’t want to spoil too much of this. All I can say is that this book will give you a lot of feels. It is very easy to fall into pace with all the characters.. easy to get attached to them, to love them and hate them and root for them at the end.

“So many people dream of living in a house with a white picket fence. Little do they know, there’s no such thing as a perfect family, no matter how white the picket fence is.”

🌻 Blurb:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit. That ought to catch your interest.
🌻 Hero:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sagan brought balance to Merit and grounds her. I admire his spirit and his mind, also his morbid art skills are amazing.
🌻 Heroine:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I find myself falling in love with Merit. I relate so much to her and I don’t even know why. It’s like she keeps pulling me in and I can empathize with all she went through.
🌻 Support Characters:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My faves are Luck and Moby. Read to find out why.
🌻 Writing Style: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
CoHo is one of the best there are, so…
🌻 Character Development:⭐⭐⭐⭐
There are lots to be done but I love the magic and power of baby steps.
🌻 Romance:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Not so much but still the blast of cool air when you need one.
🌻 Pacing:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌻 Ending:⭐⭐⭐⭐
I need more. It was sudden. And a couple more chapters would’ve been nice.
🌻 Page Turner:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌻 Book Cover:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

☁FINAL VERDICT: 4.72/5 or ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☁
