My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Review originally published on Goodreads – Dec. 5, 2018.

As I have finished my reading challenge, I rewarded myself a reread. This is one of my favorite authors, and I was in the mood for a historical romance.

I first read this when I was 16 or 17, so imagine my surprise when I was reminded of how problematic this couple was. Hah. There was so much miscommunication, hurtful words and too much pride. Trigger warning for abuse (physical and emotional) and rape. These themes are actually common in historical romances so maybe, that should’ve been expected.

Regardless, this was still a great read for me. I really get attached to McNaught’s characters. The familiarity, most of all, makes this story a beautiful experience for me.
