“Ronan Lynch lived with every sort of secret. His first secret was himself. He was brother to a liar and brother to an angel, son of a dream and son of a dreamer.”
First thought when I opened the first page: Aaaah, my dearest Ronan in the spotlight. My thoughts now: Aaaaah, it’s finally done.
I have to admit when I read this book, I kept giving myself time to digest. That’s why it took me so long to finish this. I was reading other books in between because this story tend to overwhelm me.
I don’t know what it is it about the author’s storytelling that is so heavy/intense for me. Not that I hate it, I actually am amazed by how she strings her words together. I am just drastically overwhelmed.
“In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them.
Their magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness.
Her raven boys.”
The story smoothly picks up on the first book’s end which was the revelation of Ronan’s unique skill: getting things from his dreams to reality. Their quest on Cabeswater and Glendower is still continued. Focus on new characters began: Gray Man and Joseph Kavinsky. There is so much character development you will definitely swoon. It’s like reading this book will make you fall deeper in love with this bunch, and there’s no escaping!
💙 Blue : I am so in love with Blue. She may not be on the center of this one but she still makes everything so interesting in this story. She finally finally decides to be true to her feelings and let Adam know. I ship her and Gansey so hard it’s crazy.
“”Blue put a hand on his chest and pressed. “I don’t want to kiss you. It’s not going to be you and me.””
💙 Noah : Noah was a fleeting presence in this book, as the ley line was having fluctuations so was he. I wish he had more chances of being with them all, as Noah brings a calm to the group dynamic. Noah has an intensely bittersweet scene with Blue where I wish I could have just hugged him.
“”He was fading. It wasn’t that she could see through him. It was that it was hard to remember what he looked like, even while she was looking at him. When he turned his head, she saw him swallow. He mumbled, ‘I’d ask you out, if I was alive.'””
💙 Adam : Adam has always been my least favorite. Sorry, Adam. It’s just that his pride frustrates me. And I feel like he could have been happy if he just gives himself a chance to let people in. Thankful still that the author gave him a chance to mature and improve, and the promise of his greater power now would definitely be amazing.
“”He would be Cabeswater’s hands and Cabeswvater’s eyes, but he wouldn’t be Cabeswater.
He would be Adam Parrish.””
💙 Gansey : Richard Campbell Gansey III, our little lonely boy. He desperately wants to keep everything in place, but he has to accept people have choices and he has to let them go. Gansey gives so much that I hope they will give him appreciation, too. Well, Gansey has a bit of a realization here that made me very happy to see my ship sailing.
”In some parallel universe, there was a Gansey who could tell Blue that he found the ten inches of her bare calves far more tantalizing than the thirteen cubic feet of bare skin Orla sported.”
💙 Ronan: Ronan, my baby, got his time to shiiiiine. I have to tell you, I am so in love with Ronan’s personality. He’s deep. His point of view is really interesting because it really reveals what a softie he is on the inside. You can see how much he loves his family, and how much he actually cares for his friends. There’s also getting Ronan’s orientation straight: he’s not. 😋 I’m guessing he has feelings for someone but I’m not sure if I’m quite right.
”That’s not what Gansey is to me,” Ronan said.
“You didn’t say you don’t swing that way.”
Ronan was silent. Thunder growled under his feet. “No. I didn’t.”
SCENES TO WATCH OUT FOR:
🍂 Blue and Noah’s scene. You’ll know, okay?
🍂 Ronan and Joseph’s dream scene
🍂 Adam and Persephone’s ley line scene
🍂Blue and the boys at a boat scene
🍂 Blue and Gansey’s short but sweet escape scene
“I wish you could be kissed, Jane,’ he said. ‘Because I would beg just one off you. Under all this.’ He flailed an arm toward the stars.”
IN TOTALITY, I can say that so far the series is so good. I would love to pursue reading it. I’m excited to see where the story would go.
Definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ material! 💕
