“Young love is strong. First love is powerful. But what you don’t know when you’re young—what you can’t know—is how long life actually is. And the only dependable thing about it, besides death and taxes, is change.”
I usually love Emma Chase books so much that I breeze through reading. This one did not give me that excitement, unfortunately.
I liked the story but it fell short on my expectations. I was expecting more courtroom/lawyer stuff. Kill me for not reading blurbs.
I hated how much of an asshole Stanton was. My impression: selfish, insensitive and conceited.
There was also too much pining and denial. Also too much focus on secondary characters.
Hopefully the next book of the series will be better.
☁ THE CRITERIA ☁
🌻 Blurb: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Interesting and seems exciting.
Disappointing. Such an asshole. I can’t stress this enough.
Likeable, but too much denial made me frustrated.
🌻 Support Characters:⭐⭐⭐
Stars for Jenny, Nana and Presley.
🌻 Writing Style:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Still the Emma Chase I love.
🌻 Character Development:⭐⭐
Even in the epilogue, something in me made me hate the guy. Hah.
The slow burn was too slow. Romance is not just about the hot scenes for me. Full of second guessing, denial and pining.
🌻 Page Turner:⭐⭐
🌻 Book Cover:⭐⭐⭐⭐
