“That’s the kind of person you can get away with killing: someone everybody else wants dead.”
This is one of those books that I picked up because of the catchy cover and title. So, oops.. I am a cover trash that way.
One of Us is Lying is definitely a lovechild of Prettly Little Liars and The Breakfast Club. I have to admit that I haven’t watched The Breakfast Club and only know it via pop culture. Sorry, sorry.
This is definitely my type of read. High school setting, a little romance, a lot of guessing, friendship, dramaaaa. I felt like this one was written for me to devour. Hah.
I have to admit I actually was very lost as to who the killer might be. I emphatized with The Bayview Four or so they were called. I loved the other support characters. I definitely hated one specific character. This book was so well written that way.
The major plot twist was something that could have been obvious if you think of it too hard, but still took me by surprise. It was not my main theory, so kudos to the author for that.
I definitely fell in love with Nate and Bronwyn’s relationship. A bit insta-lovey, I know, but I really like them. Fight me. 😂
Buuuut, as much as I loved them, I hated the fact that the conclusion to the epilogue revolved around them and not The Bayview Four as a whole. I think the resolution to ending could have been better thought of.
All in all, I absolutely enjoyed. Kind of seeing this made into a film or a Netflix miniseries.
