I tried so hard to love this book. I tried so haaaard to connect with this one. But I dislike it so much that I just couldn’t take anymore.
The blurb was so promising. So is the title and the cover. The author is new to me so I have zero expectations, but I am so damn dissatisfied.
This is supposed to be a forbidden romance written in an alternating Then and Now. Then is when the heroine, Adele, was 18 and the hero, Pete, was fifteen years older, at 33. Now is seven years later when she’s 25 and he’s 40. I actually love forbidden romances. I love the excitement and the thrill and all the damn drama. This one has zero of that. I don’t know if later in the book that happens, all I know is that they established zero chemistry for me so why should I wait?
Both of the main characters are tiring to read. I felt like I was reading a romance between two 16 year olds, even when they were supposed to be older. The voice of the book is definitely a MISS for me. For me it was childish and whiny and cringey most of the time.
This was supposed to be a one star but I bumped it up to give the benefit of the doubt that it gets better in the end.
Cheers.

August 11 / Initial Thoughts:
The book cover looks so good. And the title sounds interesting. Mainly the reason why I picked this up. Oops. :”
