“Do you see the light brown color—how soft it looks, like crushed velvet?”
Kennedy peers at the glass and nods.
“But there’s a deeper brown in there too, giving it more complexity. A richness.”
“And then there’s the golden hue over the whole thing that makes it almost ethereal. Like it’s lit from the inside.”
“Yes.” She nods again.
I stop swirling the glass. And say softly, “That is the exact shade of Kennedy Randolph’s eyes.”
I don’t know how Emma Chase does it. She just entices me, captures my heart and makes me feel like her characters are my close friends.
Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph, the last couple in The Legal Briefs Series, is a first love, second chances type of story. One where the hero was once a young insensitive jerk. The one where the heroine is now a strong lady who wants vengeance.
““Didn’t you ever have someone that you compare every other person against? This one’s nice, but not as nice . . . that one’s smart, but not as smart . . .
“She’s always been in my thoughts, even when I didn’t realize it. The one every other woman has gotten compared to, and fallen short. And I . . . I’ve missed her, Vicki. I want to know her again.”
The great thing about this book is still on the storytelling. A fully male POV makes you see through the mind of someone who regrets things and finally makes things right. There’s humor and a whole lot of hot scenes. There’s realizations and flashbacks and sweet sweet romance.
“It’s scary, I know. Giving someone that kind of power over you—accepting that your happiness will forever hinge on theirs. But it’s worth it.”
“The ride is the only thing that makes the fall worth it.
☁ THE CRITERIA ☁
It gives a tease, but a whole lot more is a surprise. That’s what I love about it.
Brent is a strong guy. He has his disabilities but you never see him feel bad or depressed about it. He may be rich but you don’t see him bragging about it or rubbing it to people’s faces.
Kennedy is one bad-ass heroine. Bullied nerdy kid turned strong-willed prosecutor. She braved through the struggles in her life and made herself a success and I loved her for it.
🌻 Support Characters:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The whole gang’s here and I’m so happy about it. I’ve learned to love Stanton and Sofia. The McQuaids make everything fun. But Jaaaake. Jake is the one I love the most.
🌻 Writing Style:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Emma Chase is, hands down, one of my favorite NA authors.
🌻 Character Development:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Brent and Kennedy aged beautifully. Their hearts are both made of gold and they found each other at the perfect time.
Funny, hot and sweet. The chasing/courting part is the cutest.
The story has flashbacks and revolved through 2 major court cases. Actually fast paced.
High school reunion and a glimpse into the future.
🌻 Page Turner:⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had to stop because of work and sleep but not because I wanted to!
